About Me

Hello there!  My name is Elizabeth Stith and I am a 2nd grade teacher! After graduating in May of 2008 from Illinois Wesleyan University, I started teaching 2nd grade at Gombert! Last year (2013-2014) I taught 1st grade, and am excited to spend the 2014-2015 school year with some of my first grade friends, but back in second grade! The 2014-2015 school year will mark my 6th year in 2nd grade!  And, if I add that all up correctly, that means I will be going into my 7th year of teaching!
I'm engaged to my long-time boyfriend Evan.  We will get married this summer on July 11th!  We have an adorable beagle named Lily and we love to cook, eat, and spend lots of time together planning our wedding!
I have gone back to school since graduating from Illinois Wesleyan and completed my ESL/Bilingual Teaching (Spanish) certification through Aurora University in 2010.  I also completed my Master's in Literacy from Northern Illinois University in 2012, and this past May 2014, I completed my second Master's in Administration from St. Xavier University.  Whew!  I am happy to be done with school for a while!  :-)
I started this blog several years ago as a way to reach out to my parents and students in my classroom.  Since then, my district has moved over to a new platform for online communication with parents.  I use that platform to provide information about my specific class, and am hoping to use this blog as a more general place for teachers, parents, and students to learn more about what we do in second grade!
